Artist bio:

I moved to the US when I was 10, and it wasn't until my senior year of high school, when I seriously picked up a pencil. I filled my weeks up with figure drawing and animal drawing at animation union in LA. After graduating Burbank High School in 2000, I landed a job at Rich Animation. After spending a year there, I went to LCAD and concentrated on illustration and fine art, and on the weekends took classes at Art Center.

It was about this time when I started to play around with the digital medium. I was always interested in exploring new ideas, and I wanted to get them out faster then traditional mediums would allow, so Photoshop and Painter helped me to achieve the finished look I wanted in a short period of time. They are both great tools, yet some people use them as crutch for lack of drawing experience. After graduating LCAD I ended up working at Spectral Motion as a character concept artist along side with Chet Zar and Constantine Sekeris. When the contract ended, I decided to get into video games and started an internship at high moon studios. I was working on Bourne game, where I met a lot of talented artists. After my promotion at HMS, I was offered a concept art position at Obsidian Ent, where I ended up working on Alpha Protocol as the Lead Environment Artist. I now live in Orange County working at Interplay on project V13, and doing freelance work on the side.

Favorite quote:

From the age of six I had a mania for drawing the shapes of things. When I was fifty I had published a universe of designs. but all I have done before the the age of seventy is not worth bothering with. At seventy five I'll have learned something of the pattern of nature, of animals, of plants, of trees, birds, fish and insects. When I am eighty you will see real progress. At ninety I shall have cut my way deeply into the mystery of life itself. At a hundred I shall be a marvelous artist. At a hundred and ten everything I create; a dot, a line, will jump to life as never before. To all of you who are going to live as long as I do, I promise to keep my word. I am writing this in my old age. I used to call myself Hokosai, but today I sign my self 'The Old Man Mad About Drawing.'
